Overview
We are looking for a General Merchandise Senior Packaging Design Manager/Packaging Design Manager to work for a huge global retailer in North London.
The client wants to create engaging packaging for their products that will inspire its customers and become their favorite way to shop in the changing multi-channel we live in.
To do this they will need a fantastic team, which you will be a part of. You will join a passionate and innovative team that are slick thinking and have a passion for customers driving the brand forward. This team focuses on finding better ways of doing things for its customers throughout the UK and Ireland to Central Europe, Turkey and Asia.
This role has been created to lead the design and strategy of the clients’ packaging for its global private labels in General Merchandising. As part of a new strategic direction you will be building brands that will be wanted and needed around the world in categories ranging from technology and electrical to toys, kitchen and home-wares.

What you will be doing:
– Deliver against creative briefs by directing world-class packaging design treatments.
– Shape and influence briefs with categories and brand teams.
– Recruit and manage a roster of design agencies, both creatively and financially.
– Ensure design treatments can be used across markets or adapted as appropriate.
– Work closely with brand managers to ensure output is commercial, applicable and practical.
– Create easy–to–use guidelines for use in overseas markets and build local capability to ensure excellent application.
– Be a global design authority – understand and use design trends in each market to inform creative work and, with your counterpart in the Food Team, lead an annual design trends review.
– Present and socialise work at the most senior level across several stakeholders in different markets.
– Actively promote and socialise the Group agenda and support the core vision.
– You will champion the brand packaging design throughout the world.

This is a hugely exciting time for this company and they are really looking for a candidate who can make this role their own. This is not a hands-on role, it is more of a Design Manager position where you will be overseeing everything from concept through to artwork and completion. Ideally you will have come from a packaging design background and then into an account manager/client services role having worked on global accounts.
