Overview
We are a rapidly expanding small business running 4 global sailing events a year. You will gain event management experience with hands-on client contact and be involved in a wide variety of aspects of the business.
The opportunity is based in the employer’s home business with other staff and is fully insured for working from home with employee liability cover. There will also be occasions working at events and exhibitions that also have cover. If successfully shortlisted, further information will be provided.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
Work closely on a day to day basis with the Events Manager, running the business events and raising the profile of the business to recruit more clients for our events.
•Regular updating and development of our existing social media activities.
•Regular updating and management (under direction) of the www.sailingrallies.com website.
•General administration, including keeping all company and client data up to date.
•Liaising with sponsors, suppliers, yacht clubs, journalists, press and media.
•Attendance at some of the company organised events.
•Helping to coordinate the events in conjunction with the events manager.
•Flexible working both time and location. E.g. some weekend working will be required (time off in lieu will be given).
•Developing the client base and raising the global profile of the business forwarding the overall success.
Essential Skills:
• Comprehensive IT & PC skills. You must be confident and competent working on the PC, working with websites and social media (developer skills are not required – but could be helpful).
•Must be presentable, articulate, numerate and grounded.
•Commercially astute.
• Reliable, trustworthy and resourceful.
•Good interpersonal skills.
* Hardworking – this is a demanding role in an exciting, growing business and everyone is expected to work hard!
Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge of the global yachting industry.
• Sailing experience.
• Foreign Languages (German, Spanish, French).
• Driving license.
Training:
•Instruction on IT and business systems, training on how to liaise with clients, telephone training, overview of the industry.
•You will learn how to develop events, market these events and make them enjoyable as well as commercially successful.
•You will receive regular feedback on your performance and support throughout the post.
