Overview

To enable us to cope with the rapidly changing IT landscape all of the systems that run the business are developed in house by a small dedicated development team, and as the team is small it means you can – and will be expected to – have a large impact on the business.

About You

You are a keen and flexible developer with develops experience, or a graduate willing to learn fast. You hack on code in your own time (and have a github / bitbucket account to prove it) and when asked if you have read Code Complete 2 you won’t look at the interviewer blankly.

When at work you can go from knocking out SQL reports for the Directors of the company to liaising with the warehouse staff to gather requirements for changes to systems only to then go bug hunting on our CRM system. Every day could be very different and you thrive in a fast paced environment.

Naturally, you will be an excellent communicator able to deal with people at all levels of the business. You’re a hard worker that is self-driven and always looking to improve your development and IT skills.

What You’ll Do

There is no standard day at this job. You’ll be busy but the work will change rapidly and often. You’ll be expected to work on things at each level of development and deployment. So one day you could be installing and configuring a new Linux server, the next pulling down a project’s source code from GIT, modifying the Apache ANT build script, fixing a bug in a J2SE Swing Application and then deploying EJB code to our live servers. Then the next day might be spent profiling a Microsoft SQL stored procedure to improve the performance.
