Green Shoots Recruitment Ltd is currently seeking 3 x experienced Digital Design Art Directors for a leading London Agency.  To lead visual design initiatives, for one of the Agencies biggest and most innovative clients.  These are major consumer facing websites and they are looking for people with extensive experience working on large-scale engagements for the Internet’s most highly trafficked content properties. This is a hands-on role so the right person will be comfortable to both create the design as well as directing it with big picture thinking.

 

The Digital Design Art Directors will work alongside the Creative Partners, User Experience, Technology and Content Teams.  They are responsible for developing responsive design solutions and approaches with the project team, developing original design concepts as well as overseeing project design all the way through execution.

 

Due to the scale and nature of this project they will be adopting an Agile Approach to this particular build. So the successful candidates must have experience of working in this manner: working as part of a small multi-disciplined team, a sprint led delivery process, heavy client involvement on a day-to-day basis, but always with their eye on the big picture. As is the nature of Agile working, each sprint team is self-initiating so the role requires strong self-motivation and flexibility to work collaboratively.

 

The Digital Design Art Directors are also responsible for providing art direction, designing and leadership to designers (if the sprint teams grow to include this), working on their project teams, scoping design phases of projects accurately.

 

Role details

 

• The location is in the Midlands; exact venue is due to be confirmed.

• Candidates will need to be in the office at 9am sharp each day and attend a daily 9:30 scrum.

• The start date for the job is ideally 7 January 2014.

• Training and coaching will be provided with regard to the agile approach that is bespoke to this programme.

• If successful candidates live in / are based in the Midlands, travel to London will also be expected. At the end of the current phase, if the location moves from the Midlands to London, candidates will need to relocate to main offices in London.  Flexibility with regard to travel is mandatory.

• Terms are one week notice.

• Contract is a fixed term of six months to start; the programme is anticipated to evolve over several years thus longer term opportunities are potentially available.

• Travel expenses will be covered subject to the candidate’s home location.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

 

• Must be from a design background or a combined Art Director/Designer

• A highly talented designer who sweats the small stuff. Attention to craft and detail is essential.

• Experienced in following an Agile Approach to Web Design

• Experience of designing adaptive and responsive sites across all platforms

• Experienced of designing applications for the majority of well known platforms and devices

• Experience at top digital agency in a Digital Art Director role or similar

• A willingness to work collaboratively for a common goal

• Strong conceptual thinking– both visual and interactive

• A solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, user interfaces, and navigation

• Driven to define the look and feel of large, industry-leading sites

• Strong leadership skills- ability to lead a team, manage and mentor junior designers

• Strong communication skills- ability to interface with clients as well as work with teams internally

• Good natured team player – it’s going to be a close-knit team
